I'm still here...and so is winter.

Just in case you were wondering, we haven't run away or been kidnapped - we're still here!

It's just been an un-blog worthy season in my opinion. I sometimes wonder why anyone would want to hear the day-to-day-events of my life, so why bother posting them if I don't have anything interesting to say about them...

We're all moved in and loving our house! There's nothing on the walls yet, and we have blinds that aren't hung yet, and we have shelves that aren't put together yet, but last time I checked there are only 3 boxes left (and those are waiting for those shelves to be put together, so I don't know if that counts...), so I think that's pretty darn good. We've bought new furniture and rugs and electronics. And, we've finally put the 300 wedding presents we had in storage to use - so it's like having all new everything!

And you may be thinking - 'gee, some pictures of your house would be nice since i put up with so many pictures of it being built'. But you'll have to wait. You can thank the parentals for that - no pictures will be online until they come see it for themselves - so you'll have to wait til after March 4th. I thought this would be a motivating factor to get them to come visit sooner, but it didn't work - apparently I get my if-I-make-a-plan-I'm-sticking-to-it-iveness from my Dad. Sorry. Take it up with them.

What else has happened...We hosted our first New Year's Eve party in our new house. We watched all five season of LOST in rapid succession thanks to a new blu-ray player, Netflix on-demand, and an unbearably cold January. We went to St. Louis to see friends from Baylor for a weekend - its always good to see old friends. I turned 27 - that's all I have to say about that.

And, now I'm ready for winter to be over.

Normally, winter is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love Christmas - the smells, the decorations, the socks, the food, and the time with families that is inherent to Christmas; I love cool weather and scarves and wearing sweaters, as you can easily tell by my closet; I love snuggling on the couch and watching movies when it gets dark early with a fire burning; and soups - oh how we love soups in this house! Sometimes we have a different homemade soup every night of the week - the yummy kind that warm you through and make you want to drink out of the bowl. But it's finally happened - I AM SO RIDICULOUSLY SICK AND TIRED OF THIS WINTER! It's ridiculously cold - like today is the first day we've gotten out of the 30's in about a bagillion weeks cold. It snows like once a week - growing up in Texas, and apparently here, snow is the thing that happens about once a year - it's magical outside, you play and play and play, and then it disappears in a day, not to bother you again until next year - and I miss that cycle! I'm tired of it snowing. Period. I never thought I'd say that. It's making me irritable and tired and irrational and mean to Patrick on a daily basis. I want sunshine and warmth and grass to grow and be cut and to smell fresh and the sun to stay out later and to be outside without my nose falling off and to go for long walks and to sit on my porch with coffee (I guess I need porch chairs for this one) and to work on the outside of my house and to step in my back yard without sinking up to my ankles (this means I want it to quit raining too, but we'll save that rant for the Spring). That's all. Is that too much to ask? I want global warming back! But, I'm still going to wear sweaters and eat soups...

And now you know where we/I stand. Thanks for listening.

  1. yay, glad to hear from you! I tried to convince hootie to blog and she said nothing exciting is happening in their life so she doesn't think she has anything to blog about. But blogging about nothing is the best. You end up rambling and it works for me. Not that this post was a ramble! Okay, so at least check in every month!
